The Luck of the Irish
On Wednesday at Teddy’s Field, the Mites hosted the Lucan Irish looking for their second win of the early season.

The Irish however had other plans and quickly jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead after the first inning.  In the second there was a scary moment as Julia Cameron had to be helped off the field after a collision with teammate Lauren Gracey while both were going for an infield fly.  Lucan picked up another three runs giving them a 6 – 0 lead.  Teams were scoreless in the third and in the fourth Lucan’s bats were whaling as the Irish reached the maximum allowable runs and the top of the inning was called.  In the bottom of the fourth, Cameron shook off her earlier injury and returned to action and was eager to break the shutout.  Cameron hit a one out single and followed that with a stolen base.  She came home on a RBI single by Gracey to secure St Marys only run in the Mites first loss of the year.   After the game, Kaylee Fowler was asked how she thought the game went, she replied “OK.”  Next action for the Mites is Thursday as they travel to Exeter for their first away game.
