Scott's Pitch Hit & Run Skills Contest
St. Marys Minor Ball, along with Scotts and Major League Baseball are teaming up to run the 2018 Scott's Pitch Hit & Run skills contest for kids at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in St. Marys on Saturday, May 12 at 10am on King Field.   Boys and girls aged 7-14 will be given a chance to showcase their skills. The champions from the four age categories will advance to a regional showdown, the winners of which may advance to the Rogers Centre. The champions from the Rogers Centre competition may advance to the North American Championship Finals, being held during the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in July.

There is no cost to participate, but players must pre-register by emailing [email protected] Players should check-in on May 12 at 9:30am at the Hall of Fame’s King Field at 386 Church St. S. in St. Marys, and must hand in a photocopy of their birth certificate. The players are divided by gender, and the four age categories are 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14, as determined by the child’s age on July 17, 2018.   The three competitions that make up the event involve the players’ ability to throw strikes, a timed running segment, and hitting for distance and accuracy. The winners advance to the regional showdown, which also is slated to take place at the Hall of Fame, on Saturday, May 26 at 10am. If they make it through that sectional, they have a chance to be invited to compete at the Rogers Centre on Saturday, June 16. Hubbard Pharmacy Ltd.
Since 1850, the building at 155 Queen Street East has proudly served the St. Marys community and surrounding areas. The brick-faced stone building which currently occupies the address was built in 1882 by Sidney Fraleigh and has operated as a pharmacy since 1913. The McIntyre family were the pioneers of what would eventually become Hubbard Pharmacy. In the late 1960s, after the McIntyre's, the pharmacy became owned by Al Duesburry and later by Ron Sage. In 1989, upon the passing of Mr. Sage, Hubbard Pharmacy got its name after being purchased by Dwayne and Cathy Hubbard. In 2016 Erin Dunbar became a partner, and in March 2020 Hubbard Pharmacy was purchased by Erin and David Dunbar.
