Two Games Two Points
In Huron-Perth Fastball action, the St Marys Norampac Squirts hosted a pair of the games this past week at Teddy’s Field.

On Tuesday, Stratford came to town and just as their previous meeting, the teams battled to a tie.  Despite opening up a 10 – 5 lead heading into the final inning, St Marys gave up five runs in the top of the inning making it 10 - 10.  While only needing one run in the bottom half to earn the win, three quick strikeouts ended the game in the tie.

Picking up RBI’s for St Marys were:  Kaitlyn DeBoer (2), Hayden MacDonald (2), Sarah Lynch, Grace Hillman, Nicole Rock (who also picked up St Marys only hit of the ballgame), and Jillian Sterkenburg.  St Marys also picked up two runs stealing home thanks to DeBoer and Taylor Hammel.   Pitching for St Marys were Rock and Natalie Johnston

On Saturday, the Squirts hosted Ingersoll as part of St Marys Minor Ball Day.  Ingersoll and St Marys both entered the game with two points apiece and the hometown Squirts were hopeful their first win might finally be realized.  St Marys did what they could as their bats were swinging as the Squirts combined for their best batting performance of the year belting out nine hits.  Picking up those hits were Lynch (2), Hillman (2), Angelina VanderWal, Karissa Waghorn, Ava Ansley, MacDonald, and Emma Luyten.

Unfortunately, it was a day of maximum runs allowed as each team surrendered the allowable five runs per inning as the game ended in a 15 – 15 tie.  Picking up RBI’s for St Marys were: MacDonald (3), Lynch (2), Hillman (2) VanderWal, Waghorn, Luyten, Rock, Ansley, and Hammell.  Stealing home were Sterkenburg and MacDonald for two additional runs.  Ansley and Lynch combined for pitching duties.

Next up, the Squirts travel to Tavistock on June 15 with their next home game June 21 against Shakespeare at Teddy’s.
